Timeline of Events
The following list of events is how the U.S made there attempt to colonize Hawaii .
- In 1892 The last monarch of Hawaii was Lili'uokalani.
- In 1897 President Benjamin Harrison submitted a treaty to annex the Hawaiian island to the U.S Senate
for ratification, and was declined. - In 1898 The decision of denying the annex changed once the U.S started a Spanish-American
war. In need of fuel, Hawaii was the first target for resources. - In July of 1898, the resolution was passed and the Hawaii island was officially annexed by the United States.
- In 1895 On January people started fighting back on an attempt to stop the annexation from happening
- In 1897, on September 11 and October 2, two groups made petitions to get the United States to notice that half the percentage of the people opposed the annexation, and on December 6 four delegates arrived to Hawaii with a 556 page petition in hand.
- In 1898, the four delegates met in Washington on February 27 where 46 senators were willing to vote for the annexation of Hawaii.
- In 1959, Hawaii became the 50th state of the United States.
